Collection: Cornish Pasty

This lino cut print illustrates all the ingredients needed to make this classic British dish. Cornish Pasties were originally food for miners in Cornwall's tin mines, the pastry shell was a means of packaging the meat filling and keeping it clean from the miner's dirty working hands. The pastry was not eaten but thrown away - a very environmentally friendly form of packaging which would have biodegraded very quickly

On a recent trip to Mexico we discovered that during the 1800s waves of Cornish tin miners emigrated there to help out in the regions tin mines. They brought with them the pasty and also introduced football to South America

My design is screen printed on high quality organic cotton tea towel which comes with the cooking instructions on the packaging.  Also on a greetings card with the cooking instructions on the back
